As widely recognized, the Tashkent region holds a special place in enhancing the tourism appeal of Uzbekistan. Thanks to its beautiful natural landscapes, unique and delicious cuisine, and diverse recreational sites, the region continues to attract both local and foreign visitors.
During the press tour, media representatives visited the Parkent, Bostanlyk, and Akhangaran districts, where they explored local hotels, tourist villages, guest houses, newly developed tourism sites, national craft centers, and various historical and natural attractions.
The participants examined the most attractive features of each district for tourists and set a goal to share this information with the broader public through their media platforms — shaping a positive image and showcasing the tourism potential of the region. According to journalists, the Tashkent region deserves special attention not only due to its proximity to the capital, but also because of its abundant natural and cultural resources.
The tourism development prospects in the region are also quite promising. Currently, the Tashkent region hosts 1,295 accommodation facilities (12,348 rooms and 30,972 beds), including 51 hotels, 76 recreational areas, 1,015 family guest houses, 109 hostels, 44 sanatoriums, and other wellness centers. Additionally, 172 tourism companies are operating in the region, serving both domestic and international tourists.
New tourism clusters, eco-tourism hubs, and agro-tourism projects are being developed in several districts. These initiatives will not only boost the number of visitors but also help create employment opportunities for the local population, stimulate economic activity, and promote national culture.
It is worth noting that, under the current regulations, the daily limit for guests at family-run guest houses is 10 people. This restriction will now be doubled.
This announcement was made by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during an open dialogue with entrepreneurs on August 20. The President proposed holding a competition among local hotels and family guest houses. The prize fund will total $1 million, and the accommodations that attract the most tourist attention and receive the highest number of positive reviews on leading international platforms will be awarded annually.
This press tour has become an important platform not only for widely showcasing the tourism potential of the Tashkent region through media representatives but also for implementing new initiatives and approaches in the sector. The region’s rich nature, ancient heritage, and modern infrastructure offer great opportunities for tourism development. Active media engagement, government reforms, and private sector involvement will form a solid foundation for transforming the Tashkent region into one of the country’s premier tourist destinations.
