A training seminar on Gender-Responsive Budgeting is taking place

This seminar was organized based on the bilateral cooperation memorandum signed this year between UN Women and the Ministry of Economy and Finance, within the framework of gradually implementing gender-responsive budgeting in the public finance management system.
The main goal of this seminar was to enhance participants' knowledge and skills in gender-responsive budgeting, provide direct insights from international experts in this field, and facilitate communication between participants and experts.
The seminar featured participation from Ceren Guven Gures, head of the UN Women program in Uzbekistan, as well as experts Blerina Khani and Mustafa Chadir.
During the seminar, experts provided insights on gender-responsive budgeting, its elements, gender statistics, and the principles of integrating gender-responsive budgeting into budget processes, among other topics.
At the beginning of the seminar, Ceren Guven Gures spoke about the objectives of the seminar and UN Women's activities in Uzbekistan. Following this, Malika Kadirkhonova, chair of the Committee on Women and Gender Equality of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, and Gulnora Rakhimova, deputy minister of economy and finance, discussed the positive changes being implemented in the field of gender equality in our country and how they align with the public finance management system.
Experts also provided insights on the status of gender equality in Uzbekistan, legislative frameworks and strategies, gender equality in governance, and the consideration of gender principles. At the end of the seminar, they addressed questions from participants.
This seminar is also planned to continue on October 31 and November 1 of this year.
On the second day of the seminar, key concepts of gender-responsive budgeting, the tools of gender-responsive budgeting, and the roles and responsibilities of participants in the budget process will be explained. On the final day, insights will be provided on gender-responsive budgeting and public finance management, gender statistics, key performance indicators affecting gender, and future steps.
