Key Sessions of the International Forum on Artificial Intelligence in Samarkand

The international forum titled “Development of Artificial Intelligence Technologies in the Commonwealth of Independent States” is ongoing in Samarkand. This authoritative event is aimed at strengthening interstate cooperation in the field of AI, exchanging innovative solutions, and building sustainable digital ecosystems.
The first session of the forum was dedicated to the topic:
“National Strategies and Initiatives in the Field of Artificial Intelligence: Experience of CIS Countries and Priority Development Areas.”
Participants discussed the development and implementation of national AI strategies, effective cooperation between government, academia, and the private sector, as well as prospects for regional and international collaboration.
In his address, First Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan Oleg Pekos outlined the priority areas of the country’s digital policy, the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, and Uzbekistan’s vision for regional cooperation.
Grigory Borisenko, Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation, presented on the regulatory framework, state programs, and best practices in the field of AI in Russia.
Alexander Kraynov, Director for AI Technology Development at Yandex, highlighted the role of the private sector in advancing and implementing AI technologies and commented on the responsibilities of the Ministry of Science and Education of Azerbaijan in this domain.
Ali Abbasov, Director General of the Institute of Management Systems under the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, emphasized the pivotal role of science in the advancement of AI and the importance of strengthening national human capital.
The session also addressed complex and pressing topics such as the close cooperation of state authorities, business, and scientific institutions in building national AI ecosystems, information security, data openness, and the creation of fair algorithms.
The second session of the forum focused on the topic:
“Application of Artificial Intelligence in the Financial Sector: Transforming Banking Services, Developing Fintech, and Ensuring Economic Stability.”
Discussions centered on the transformational impact of AI technologies in the financial and fintech sectors, the automation of banking operations, personalized customer solutions, and modern approaches to cybersecurity.
Technology startup leaders and representatives of AI solution development organizations delivered speeches, sharing real-world cases and business experience.
Among the attendees were K. Ubaydullayev, Deputy Head of the Department for Financial Technologies, Digitalization, and Artificial Intelligence under the Presidential Administration, and Z. Mutalov, Head of the Department for the Development of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
