International Forum on Artificial Intelligence Kicks Off in Samarkand

Today, August 7, the first day of the international forum on “Development of Artificial Intelligence Technologies in the Commonwealth of Independent States” officially began in Tashkent.
The event brings together digital technology experts, government officials, and international delegates, including heads of AI initiatives from CIS countries.
The forum opened with a presentation video showcasing Uzbekistan’s current achievements in digitalization and artificial intelligence. The event was formally opened by First Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies Oleg Pekos, who delivered the keynote address.
The first session featured the participation of:
• Oleg Pekos, First Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan
• Grigory Borisenko, Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation
• Ali Abbasov, Director General of the Institute of Management Systems under the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan
• Alexander Kraynov, Director of AI Technology Development at Yandex
The session focused on “National Strategies and Initiatives in the Field of Artificial Intelligence: Experiences of CIS Countries and Future Priorities.”
Discussions centered on successful policy frameworks in AI, results achieved to date, and future plans to advance digital transformation across the region.
