Let’s Unite for the Country’s Advancement: Meeting with Uzbekistan Connect Ambassadors

As part of the Uzbekistan Connect initiative, a meeting was held between Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov and a group of successful Uzbek professionals working in leading international technology companies and startups. The event aimed to deepen engagement with the global Uzbek diaspora and enhance Uzbekistan’s integration into the global digital ecosystem.
The Uzbekistan Connect program serves as a strategic platform to connect high-achieving Uzbek specialists abroad with local stakeholders, with the goal of expanding international cooperation, attracting investment, promoting innovation, and facilitating knowledge and experience transfer. The program also focuses on creating new opportunities for young professionals and startups in Uzbekistan.
Currently, 12 appointed Uzbekistan Connect Ambassadors—professionals based in Germany, Japan, South Korea, Poland, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States—are tasked with:
• Supporting export-oriented technology initiatives
• Facilitating partnerships with foreign investors and companies
• Promoting the country’s digital and human capital
• Enhancing the visibility of Uzbekistan in global IT markets
During the meeting, discussions centered around Uzbekistan’s digital transformation agenda, including the “Digital Uzbekistan – 2030” strategy, and existing state programs that support young IT talent and entrepreneurship.
Minister Shermatov emphasized the importance of strengthening the country’s presence in the global technology market, attracting foreign technology companies, and expanding remote employment opportunities for local professionals. He also underlined the need to unlock the economic potential of remote regions by improving digital infrastructure, advancing tech education, and creating high income jobs for the youth.
The ambassadors shared their insights and offered specific proposals to support digital transformation projects in Uzbekistan. Key themes included establishing partnerships with global technology companies, mentoring emerging professionals, and facilitating access to international markets.
This meeting marked a significant step in building a globally connected, innovation-driven ecosystem and demonstrated the strategic role of the Uzbek diaspora in shaping the country’s digital future.
